ON STAGE
01|Outstanding Works Showcase
The Outstanding Works Showcase provides selected recognized works with the opportunity to be presented in a formal theater setting.
CIDCE aims to extend the professional judgment formed during the artistic selection process to the stage, allowing the works to be fully viewed and experienced within the context of a live audience, theater space, and professional production conditions.
Selected recognized works will be formally invited by CIDCE to participate in the Outstanding Works Showcase. While professional recognition documents the affirmation a work receives during the adjudication process, the Showcase goes a step further by bringing the work into the theater to establish an authentic relationship with the audience and the stage.
02|Showcase Selection & Invitation
The Outstanding Works Showcase operates on a formal invitation basis. Works that have achieved professional recognition enter the candidate pool for the live showcase, and CIDCE conducts a separate live selection after the adjudication results are confirmed.
Among works of comparable professional caliber, CIDCE may further consider the overall program structure, cast duplication, relationships between works, and live operational needs to ensure the final program maintains professional standards while forming a cohesive and effective live presentation.
Works that receive the Jury's Special Recognition will be given priority consideration in the live selection; however, final invitations will still be confirmed based on specific production conditions.
If certain works that meet the live presentation standards do not receive a formal invitation in the initial round, CIDCE may place them in the Pre-Qualified Reserve Pool based on practical circumstances. This pool does not constitute a ranking. If suitable programming vacancies arise later, CIDCE will reissue invitations based on the quality, duration, format, technical requirements, cast arrangements, and overall program relationships needed to fill the vacancy.
Works in the reserve pool are not required to complete live event registration until a formal invitation is received.
03|Registration & Confirmation
Works formally invited to the Outstanding Works Showcase will complete live participation confirmation and registration exclusively through their affiliated schools or institutions.
The formal invitation will outline the registration deadline, required materials, applicable participation fees, and subsequent arrangements. Upon completing the live event registration within the specified deadline, the work is officially confirmed to participate in this season's Outstanding Works Showcase.
Formal Invitation
The formal CIDCE invitation marks the beginning of the live participation process.
Invited schools or institutions will receive the necessary information to complete their live participation and must confirm their participation within the specified deadline based on the actual circumstances of the works and cast members.
Live-Event Registration
Live event registration is used to complete all necessary preparations for bringing the work into the theater, including program details, professional credits, cast information, as well as materials required for stage production, live operations, and credential allocation.
Upon completion of registration, the work will enter this season's live production pipeline, and program scheduling, stage operations, and other event preparations will proceed accordingly.
Confirmed Participation
Works that complete the live event registration within the specified deadline will be officially confirmed as participating works in this season's Outstanding Works Showcase.
As production advances, subsequent participation and live event information will be uniformly released through the schools or institutions, ensuring participating teams have adequate preparation time.
Collaborative Artistic Development
Among the works confirmed for this season's live event, CIDCE will conduct a separate artistic selection to invite certain works into further collaboration, rehearsal, and artistic development with Chinese instrumental musicians.
The Outstanding Works Showcase itself provides a complete theatrical presentation and live documentation. Building upon this, the collaborative artistic development is separately determined based on the artistic direction of this season's program, the characteristics of the works, and actual production conditions, creating opportunities for selected works to further explore the relationship between movement, music, and the stage.
Works entering the collaborative artistic development phase are not required to pay additional participation fees for artistic development.
04|Live Participation
Works officially participating in the Outstanding Works Showcase will be presented in a formal theater environment, receiving production and documentation support appropriate for this season's presentation.
CIDCE aims to ensure that every invited work is clearly and fully presented within an authentic stage space and before a live audience, while generating a credible and sustained professional record for the works and their associated participants.
Professional Theatre & Production
Participating works will be performed within a unified and professional production framework, receiving corresponding stage, lighting, audio, and stage management support.
The overall production focuses not only on the presentation of each individual work but also on the transitions between pieces and the overall performance quality, ensuring diverse works collectively form a stable and cohesive live program.
Official Program & Professional Credits
Participating works will be entered into the official program record for this season's event. Based on the actual circumstances of the work and appropriate authorizations, professional credits may include the title of the work, performers, school or institution, original choreographer, and other relevant artistic contributors.
This information collectively constitutes the formal professional record of the work and its associated participants within this program.
Professional Photography & Complete Performance Recording
Every formally participating work will receive professional stage photography and a full performance recording, documenting the work's actual presentation in the theater.
Specific principles regarding media documentation, material delivery, and subsequent usage are detailed in Performance & Artistic Documentation.
Physical Recognition Piece
Recognized works that complete the live showcase will receive a corresponding physical recognition piece, documenting the professional recognition achieved in this season's artistic selection alongside its formal live presentation experience.
In principle, each work corresponds to one physical recognition piece.
05|Live Program
The live event for Gathering in Motion 2027 consists of two main components: the daytime Outstanding Works Showcase, and the evening Gathering in Motion Premiere.
Both unfold on the same day, presenting the professional outcomes and artistic developments generated by this season's program through distinct live formats.
Daytime|Outstanding Works Showcase
The daytime segment features the Outstanding Works Showcase, presenting the recognized works formally invited and confirmed by CIDCE for live participation.
Specific scheduling will be determined based on final participating works and live production arrangements. If split into a first and second show, both sessions hold equal professional status and jointly constitute this season's Outstanding Works Showcase.
Scheduling will holistically consider the duration, format, cast duplication, costume change requirements, and overall live operations, ensuring each work receives suitable presentation conditions while maintaining the fluidity and coherence of the overall program.
Evening|Gathering in Motion Gala
The evening segment features the Gathering in Motion Premiere, comprising two interconnected components: the Recognition Ceremony and the Collaborative Artistic Presentation.
Recognition Ceremony
The Recognition Ceremony brings the professional recognition established during this season's adjudication into the live space, allowing the achievements of recognized works, dancers, teachers, choreographers, and participating institutions to be formally presented and witnessed in a shared theater environment.
Professional recognition is established upon the announcement of official results; the evening ceremony provides a public moment to share these outcomes with participants and the audience.
Collaborative Artistic Presentation
Following an independent artistic selection, certain works enter further collaboration, rehearsal, and artistic development with Chinese instrumental musicians, presenting the stage outcomes forged through this process during the Gathering in Motion Premiere.
Throughout this collaborative process, dance and music serve as distinct and equal artistic voices, establishing new relationships through listening, response, rehearsal, reworking, and refinement.
This presentation focuses on the new relationships, artistic possibilities, and overall stage expression formed during the collaboration, reflecting Gathering in Motion's commitment to artistic partnership and the sustained development of works.
The daytime Outstanding Works Showcase and the evening Gathering in Motion Premiere are interconnected, yet each serves clear and complete professional objectives.
06|Performance & Artistic Documentation
CIDCE values the stage presentation of works and equally values how these artistic practices are clearly documented, preserved, and continue to generate value.
Works participating in the Outstanding Works Showcase will receive professional stage photography and a full performance recording, ensuring the work's actual state in a formal theater can continue to be reviewed and utilized after the event, becoming part of the professional record for the work and its associated participants.
Professional Stage Photography
Professional photography centers on the work's overall stage presentation, documenting movement, spatial relationships, performance states, and representative moments forged live on stage.
For group dances, the imagery will specifically focus on the relationships between dancers, ensemble structure, and overall stage composition, enabling the photography to authentically reflect the work's state as a cohesive artistic whole within the theater.
These images not only document the day of the performance but also provide dancers, teachers, choreographers, and participating institutions with formal stage materials of enduring value.
Complete Performance Recording
Every formally participating work will receive one full performance recording, clearly and steadily preserving the live presentation of the work from beginning to end.
The recording focuses on comprehensively capturing the work itself—including movement, spatial relationships, music, and overall stage structure—providing reliable visual material for future review, teaching, creation, and further artistic development.
Sustained Professional Documentation
Professional photography, full performance recordings, and official program credits collectively document the actual presentation of the works during the Gathering in Motion 2027 live phase.
For dancers, it documents the stage practice of the work and performers in a formal theater; for teachers and choreographers, it preserves the actual state of the work achieved at this stage; for schools and institutions, it forms a sustained professional archive of their artistic practice and program participation.
Relevant performance materials will be uniformly delivered through the participating schools or institutions, allowing these records to be preserved, reviewed, and utilized long after the performance concludes.
Documentation & Media Use
The full performance materials provided to participating schools or institutions are primarily intended to document the live presentation of the participating works themselves.
CIDCE also views media documentation as a vital component of the program's ongoing development and institutional archiving. Subject to appropriate authorization and in accordance with applicable copyright and media usage arrangements, selected photography, performance excerpts, and related materials may be used for CIDCE's program records, institutional archives, and public communications.
The public use of complete works will be separately confirmed based on the specific rights arrangements concerning the work, music, performers, and related media.

Clear personnel arrangements, timely communication, and orderly backstage protocols collectively support dancers in focusing on their performance while establishing a stable, professional operating environment for the entire live event.
School & Team Coordination
Participating schools or institutions must designate appropriate teachers, directors, or other leads responsible for the live organization and necessary supervision of their team, including assembly, holding room management, costume changes, and performance preparation.
For minor participants, the school or institution must assign appropriate adults responsible for the on-site supervision and coordination of their team throughout the event.

Backstage Access
The backstage area primarily serves performance operations, participation preparation, and team coordination. It is restricted exclusively to participants, school staff, and event personnel who have obtained the appropriate live access permissions.

If a participant requires additional assistance due to age, accessibility needs, or other practical circumstances, the affiliated school or institution may communicate with CIDCE in advance to confirm appropriate support arrangements based on venue conditions and live operational plans.
Event Coordination
Within practical limits, CIDCE will reasonably consider the scheduling and live transition needs resulting from cast duplication, costume changes, and multi-work participation.
